I'm friends with the owner of that car and that is one of several hoods he has. His carbon fiber hood is usually on there, but that was something he tried out for a little while. And as a matter of fact, it IS a trend in the VW community and he thought he'd try to make a similar look on his E46. It's also a big trend in other car scenes, Rat Rod etc. Just because YOU don't like it, and it's not your taste, doesn't necessarily make it douchey ;) Nice….
