Is this the new trend? Lets take our hood, grind all the paint off and soak it with some battery acid or muriatic acid(hydrocloric acid) to give it that rusty patina look. If you think it looks cool now, just wait a few years when your tired of the car and try to sell the car. I bet the “rustic” hood option will bring you more money. LOL. . .That surface rust is going to get deeper into that metal and eventually the rust will eat away the metal. I can picture the autotrader ad now. . .

Nice…. I’m friends with the owner of that car and that is one of several hoods he has. His carbon fiber hood is usually on there, but that was something he tried out for a little while. And as a matter of fact, it IS a trend in the VW community and he thought he’d try to make a similar look on his E46. It’s also a big trend in other car scenes, Rat Rod etc. Just because YOU don’t like it, and it’s not your taste, doesn’t necessarily make it douchey
